An iKonic Start To 2024

As The House of iKons hits its 10 year anniversary, there is much to be celebrated with designers and creative talent from across the world joining the ranks, the talent and spectacle of the iKons show has become the standard bearer for how an independent fashion event can become a platform for music, design and creative talent that breaks boundaries.

“Amongst the many accomplishments of iKons as a show and platform it is worth noting their continued work promoting talent which has become something of a regal affair with Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand as the UK Ambassador of the Royal Thai project bringing the exquisite design and cultural heritage of Thailand to London and showing the potential of fashion to showcase her country in the most spectacular way.

Not just a showcase front of house with designers and models but backstage with a creative team behind the scenes who work hard from the makeup team to the dressers, House of iKons has become a hub of talent and a springboard to so many new and amazing talents:

Talking Business with Lukey Lukey

Something we find fascinating is the desire and passion behind brands, Lukey Lukey is a great example of this with the line already gathering attention we wanted to find out more about the beginnings and future of this eye-catching collection.

Lukey Lukey is a curated, yet all encompassing color range that has really grabbed people's attention. Can you tell us more about the line and how it all started?

It all started for me during the lockdown. I had been working in the beauty industry as a stylist, colourist and educator for well over a decade, and I had just started a new career as a freelance beauty editor. It was a nice change of pace from the type of work I had been doing for the longest time. I always felt like there was something missing from my career. Whenever I achieved what I set out to do, I wanted to move on to the next thing immediately. I never felt fully content with what I was doing. Finally, it just hit me: I need to start my own brand. Once I had that "Aha moment", everything just became really clear to me. I was grateful to be working fully remotely at the time because it gave me enough time to research everything that I’d need to know to start my own business. The hard work started there, but my vision was crystal clear, so to me the hardest part was already complete.

When you were designing the Lukey Lukey range what was the driving force behind the look?

Lukey Lukey, it’s branding and everything about the aesthetic is like something that’s been trapped inside my head that’s always been yearning to break out. I can’t explain how easy it all came to me. It didn’t even “come” to me, I just let it all out. I knew exactly how I wanted everything to look, how I wanted the logo to be styled, the type of models I wanted to use, everything just flowed very easily. Getting to be creative and design all of this was a dream for me. My mother is an artist and she painted the original artwork, with me instructing how I wanted it to look. It’s such a fond memory of the brand's creation.

You chose to lead with a cream blusher collection for your brand, is there more planned for the future and can you share with us your plans?

“ Yes! Blush is very near and dear to me and my journey in beauty! I was always self-conscious of blushing and having rosy cheeks, so it was me taking back my power!”

Trying to celebrate our insecurities – as difficult as that may be at times. I also find blush interesting in terms of colour theory; colour has always been my passion, in every avenue of my life. I have so many plans for future launches and where I want the brand to go. A collection takes such a long time to create, I started planning the second collection before Dream Cheeks – my first collection – even launched!

Is there any advice you can offer to aspiring entrepreneurs entering into the beauty industry?

It’s competitive, so you need to have a very clear idea of what you want to create. Once you know what you want and you are confident in your choices, trust your instinct. Nobody knows what you want to achieve as clearly as you do. It’s great to have a few people to bounce ideas off, but once you make a decision you need to have the confidence to stand behind it. Running a business is difficult enough without doubting yourself, you need to be sure of yourself, always.

Lukey Lukey Cream Blush Revolution

As many will know, JamesC has an obsession with blush, so when he came across the debut collection from Lukey Lukey of 4 universal shades of cream blush it was a match made in heaven.

Luke Nolan the founder behind the colour collection has developed this to be a consumer dream and an artist must, from the chic blue packaging to the carefully curated cream colours, this brand is designed to meet artistic standards and colour theory methods while enhancing beauty with minimal fuss and maximum impact.

From a purely artistic point of view this range has the hallmarks of a bridal staple, a film/TV artist must, and an editorial plus when it comes to a working kit and throw in the potential to sell the product in your salon Lukey Lukey Blush is set to be a go-to across the spectrum.

Produced in Europe, the range may be small but has the potential to make a big impact and has the support of The Lost Creatives team as well as our own JamesC who is already plotting out looks for this spectacular blush.

The iKons Show: a Creative Masterpiece

In the realm of fashion there are few shows that resonate quite the same way as The House of iKons, their February show for 2023 has attracted some of the leading lights of fashion, Royalty, and creative talent creating a platform that has taken the industry by storm.

From the opening segment to the finale, it was a perfectly executed showcase of design, makeup, models that covered the widest spectrum of sizes, gender and age, proving once again that fashion lives and cannot be stopped.

Bringing together people from across the globe, it has become a badge of honour to be part of the iKons show with creative talent travelling from far and wide to be a part of the show.

It is though a credit to the vision of Savita Kaye whose leadership and business savvy that has brought this show to the forefront of the fashion calendar and earning the iKons show a top 6 place in the global fashion calendar for the innovation and overall spectacle of the show. With a backstage crew of exceptional talents keeping things moving and a front of house team whose hard work help share the event, we know that the September show (already in the works) will be as big, as bold, as spectacular a show as previous events and take this British fashion event to not just to London but the world.

The House of iKons Team Pay Tribute To a Life In Service

While fashion shows may seem to be a frivolous concept and far removed from Royal duties, the House of iKons team from the models, to the crew, paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth the second at their September show. Firm supporters of Royalty, the iKons team took the time to say goodbye in a way that only a world-leading fashion event house could.

The House of iKons models and crew show respect for the departed Queen Elizabeth the second at the September show.

Such is their support for Royalty, the team has been working closely with the Thai Royal family, an even more poignant partnership when you consider how much goes on behind the scenes of the Royal households and with the death of our own Monarch in the UK, a much loved, hardworking, woman who changed with the times, we see the same with her majesty Queen Sirikit, an advocate of women and strong supporter of the Thai industries such as hemp and silk production.

The show was as to be expected, a spectacular example of creative talent from the designers to the models and the creative talent backstage who worked hard to make the show happen and at the right time showed their respect for our late Queen.

Backstage at The iKons Show featuring Girl Meets Brush

With the return of live events, it was a true showcase of talent both on the catwalk and behind the scenes, at The House of iKons show. Featuring the makeup and hair team of Girl Meets Brush, fashion week is back with a bang.

As one of the leading off-schedule events during London fashion week, The House of iKons has returned to the global stage with a show that gives a voice and platform to designers from across the spectrum, but it is the backstage area that really is where the work happens. Having worked on countless live events myself, I know that is no mean feat to prep an army of models which is why teamwork is a must.

The Girl Meets Brush team showed they are up to the challenge and led by founder Lynn Mills, they created a makeup and hair showcase that was both translatable to the real world and very much high fashion without losing stride. The look had to work for multiple designers and a range of skin tones which to their credit, they made this look effortless working seamlessly on what is a significant and important fashion event with the world’s press capturing every detail.

House of iKons is a top-tier show with designers from across the globe so the backstage crew needs to be on top of their game and The Girl Meets Brush team pulled it out of the bag with grace and style.

Whouknow a New Marketing Tool

We were really intrigued by the idea of the site Whouknow for marketing targetting the creative side of the world and opening up doors to new and interesting prospects with both clients and collaborators. The site itself is straightforward to set up and our creative director JamesC has already thrown his cap into the ring and created a profile.

“There's no such thing as buyers and sellers in creative communities, which is why Whouknow works the way you do. We've also thrown in a bunch of other features that'll make your life a whole lot easier.”

Whouknow offers the option to set a base budget and offer your services to projects on other terms such as barter, it has real scope for marketing and has gathered some interesting talents to the table who are open to opportunities and marketing their skills through the site.

Naturally, we plan to use this as a part of our upcoming projects and where possible source additional team members to the fold for this. In fact, with our 3 shorts and a small-scale commercial/showreel project in the works, this could be something positive and give us access to a host of new faces to work with which is a real boost to our goals both short and longterm.

We recommend you go check out the site and see the potential for yourself:

Tackling The JamesC Website

Tackling The JamesC Website

We have been talking (via Twitter) about taking down our creative director JamesC’s website and completely overhauling it with a mix of his work from previous shoots, and of course new editorials mixed with additional TV/character-based concepts. That is now in motion and for the next two weeks, we will be doing the wrap-up work with a view to having a profile with vShowcards that will be central to his marketing as a makeup artist.

Taking this step has been really scary, as you can imagine, but it was a necessary move that we felt was long overdue, and with so many changes in motion to the market overall, we did this with a view to the long-term goals of the Lost Creatives and it will give a more focused and cohesive look to his work. With this in mind, we are debating adding a further 3 sites to the Lost portfolio making the overall theme of our work more cohesive and taking much of our business internally which will give us a stronger control over the imaging, marketing, and projects we tackle.

For those interested in keeping up with the news and updates JamesC will continue writing for our blogs and is still on Twitter. The new site is mostly complete and will be focused solely on his artistry work, while The Lost Creatives expands with him at the helm we will be working on the development of TV projects, short films for festival entry, and photo projects, to name but a few of our plans.

The iKons Fashion Film 2021

In a year that has seen industry slow down and in some cases completely stop, it is gratifying to see the fashion industry and the creative talent behind it have found a way to showcase not only the designers but the creative talent from behind the scenes.

The House of iKons has stood tall in this with a fashion film and series of collaborations, and partnerships that have shown clearly that fashion talent still has a voice and a place in the world with the people speaking softly and letting the video do the real work. A creative tour de force, this latest incarnation to one of the leading off-schedule fashion events worldwide, has allowed everyone from the makeup staff to the designers to showcase their wares and remind us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Featuring leading designers, creatives, and modeling talent The House of iKons is planning for live events later in the year and into 2022 with their ever-popular show is leading the way for fashion elites and giving a voice to professionals from across the globe.

In the current climate of uncertainty, it is truly gratifying to know that fashion is finding a way and carving a new path that will showcase talent, bring the world of iKonic design to not just their established audience but a wider and more diverse range of people thanks to the savvy collaborations of Savita Kaye and the new media partner Rising Fashion, which will see The House of iKons go multiplatform including Amazon and Youtube to name but two of the places you will be able to find the show in its current form as a digital platform for design and innovation.

House of iKons become an official Associate to the International Art Fashion Council and is now on Wiki Video as one of the Top Six Brands World Wide changing the face of fashion with its innovative diversity and range of creatives globally.

With pre-production already in motion for shows into 2022, there is a definite sense that fashion is here to stay and that iKonic design will always find a way to showcase in a fashion film form that is innovative and has caught the attention and support of Girl Meets Brush, The Fashion Life Tour, Zarya Azadi.

A New Year A New Plan

new year new plan

In many respects, 2020 has been a lost year for a lot of people with the world changing dramatically. For us, it has opened up doors to a whole host of new potential avenues and given us a chance to reevaluate what we have been doing and look at how we can fit ourselves into the market long-term. To do this we have broken our work into key areas that will be public and those which will be kept private to the inhouse team.

In the public sense, we have two key areas we will be focusing on in the first quarter of the year:

Editorial and print: we have been putting this on the backburner in some respect taking time to look at locations, edit work already shot, slowly build up a series of images and work that will be released over the early part of 2021 with additional planned small shoots that will be a combination of artistic and commercial. *This will include product placement in behind the scenes imaging and video with brands such as Lord and Berry, Mykitco, and Brushwork Cosmetics to start. We are open to new potential brand partners for projects contact the team to discuss.

Film and TV: something that we have been doing since the start of Lost Creatives is supporting a range of festivals including Micromania and The Nepal Cultural and Film Centers' own festival. We do have plans to partner with a European festival and will reveal details on that soon.

Our initial goal is to work on 3 projects that will be shorts, designed specifically to go to festivals and as an opening gambit for our planned digital TV shoots in the horror/thriller market (for Which we have already spoken to several distributors and have options in place including the HOD TV route which is our number 1 choice).

In the coming months, our projects will be smaller in nature to help push forward and test the waters of the market and expand out. Our ties to South Asia (Including Nepal Film Production and our key actor contacts in India), will play a heavy part in our work as we are questioning how we will be able to work in Scotland and the UK in general.

Each of the current websites: JamesC mua. Lost Project and of course Lost Creatives will be receiving overhauls and updated images across the galleries, and the welcome pages, additional sites are being planned for our film/TV work to keep the Creatives solely about marketing and the background elements we have built.

Further updates will be released over the course of the month. We are really excited about our plans for 2021 and look forward to pushing the boundaries of our work.

Location Scouting a Lost Boy Shoot Part 1

Location Scouting a Lost Boy Shoot

Finding a little free time our creative director (JamesC) decided to break away from his usual duties of admin and management to do some location scouting for a 3 part story built around The Lost Boys concept, with his trusted point and shoot camera he walked along the promenade and into town to find some specific locations that would fit the brief and in doing so has settled on 3 distinct locations that will add a touch of drama to the shots (with a video being planned to add to the drama of the scene).

“The images themselves will be built around derelict buildings, waste ground, and a fractured symbolism of nature. Each model will have his own story that will hint at both the inspiration of Pans Lost Boys to the more dystopic visuals of the backdrop to fit with the ‘council estate boys’ look of the models.”

A full and detailed explanation of The Lost Boys shoots can be found by clicking here. We are really excited by the concept and the fact we have the support of fellow Creative Director Shakti Sood founder and brand manager of The Sons of Adonis and the amazing Lord and Berry makeup line, both seeing the potential of what we are working on.

The Full Depixym Kit

depixym kit

The team behind Depixym paints have been building the brand and it is now seen as a staple for many in the realms of fashion and print with film and TV artists also reaping the benefits of what is a multipurpose cosmetic grade emulsion that can be used to create a wide array of looks and fits neatly into a working kit. Taking the step to create what can only be described as a covetable working case housing the full collection of the Depixym paints, they have given the artistic a professional case, a full collection in one place of colors that can be blended to make anything that you may require as a makeup artist.

Depixym is a brand that looks at the artist and sees what they need, the tubes are styled to look like traditional art materials and work in any given situation, editorial and creative artists have taken the brand to heart and are creating a storm on social media while others are integrating the range into the more day to day elements of their business, a truly must-have range that needs to be seen.

The newly launched Pro Program (we have joined) offers an even wider incentive to the professionals and has opened the door to new and exciting possibilities, which for us is perfectly in line with the editorial goals we have in motion.

September in Fashion With The House of iKons

ikons digital show

With the world in a state of flux and so many changes underway it was gratifying to know that fashion is always going forward and at this moment in time, House of iKons took the lead and showcased talent (as they always do) taking the designers from the catwalk and showing them in a new light with a digital showcase for their Septembers fashion week event. A rare insight has been offered into the world of fashion and it was as grand a spectacle as we have come to expect but, with a uniquely iKonic twist.

With a stable of established designers under the iKons family umbrella, there was also a sense of the new and it was all pulled together in a way that gave us a glimpse into the ateliers of some of the worlds finest design houses from couture bridal and gowns to streetwear and kids clothing, the access and insights into the mind of the creative talent was beyond comparison.

From humble roots to one of the top 10 off schedule fashion shows in the world. From all across the globe, The House of iKons showcase has opened the door to new and exciting paths for everyone from the backstage staff to the designers and dressmakers, and this latest show in its digital form was a hit with the “attendance” hitting the high notes of views on the day and opening up the world of fashion to a diverse audience and tells everyone that fashion has no limits.

As Summer Ends We Are Starting New Public Projects

everything is connected

As we close out the summer and move into autumn, the change in weather is also a good time for the team to really push through with some new editorials and change up the digital portfolios, look at online training, and add to our marketing strategies with carefully chosen platforms and later this month release the new websites we have been planning in the background.

We are truly honored to have been working with Lord and Berry, who have agreed to support our upcoming work and we will be sharing images and other stories with the team soon. What really pushed this for us was the fact they are a sustainable brand and cruelty-free which for us was an important aspect especially in the current climate, the wood pencils (an absolute must in our view both eye and lip) are worth checking out if you are in the market for high quality, fashion-led cosmetics, **we really do recommend you look at the pressed powders in transparent, peach and banana.

Add in some of the amazing brushes from Mykitco our creative director JamesC, has recently purchased with a view to restyling his working kit to suit the upcoming very public projects we have planned we wanted to share two of the brushes we think people need to consider as an “artist must-have” in your kit:

My Ultra Multi

My Cream Shadow

Something we will be adding very soon for both hygiene reasons and the practicality of it is the My Clear Palette, which is designed to allow you to custom blend color, foundation check, and is a convenient size to add to a working kit (with a spatula for decanting).

We have been watching the magazine world really closely and thankfully the ones we are looking to shoot content for have open submissions at the moment and we will be able to gain some covers and tears in a relatively short amount of time that we will be using for marketing, supported by our media partner Nepal Film Production, who have come up with a fantastic offer for filmmakers that have projects that are ready to be sold (contact us for further details).

The last few months have felt really strange as we have been unable to release some of the work due to client terms and contracts, so now that we have more support and a little flexibility to what we do and how we release it, we are going to spend time focusing heavily on what will be the beginning of a much more focused and driven period in terms of video and still output.

***We are looking at online courses for production and expanding on the creative direction side for our team to ensure that they are up to date on technique, we have already started this with added health and safety training.

For The Lost Creatives, the days have been busy and we are excited about what the future holds as a team we have and will continue to work with a commercial eye to the creative world.
